Once again I have let things slide with this blog. Which is weird, because home office productivity is becoming more and more relevant to what I am doing with my time.
In addition to my own freelance copywriting work, I am now doing more and more coaching with freelancers working from home. My focus is on helping people build a more profitable and enjoyable freelance writing or copywriting business.
Naturally, a significant component of any freelance business is the ability to work effectively from a home office.
Clearly it is time for me to pay a little more attention to this blog!
My apologies to all the people who have been coming here in search of useful information and have found me asleep at the wheel.

Using free and open source software applications is a great way to organize your home office/small office as well as save money on expenses. DealDogs.net has an interesting article entitled "FreeOffice: 10 Great Free Apps For Instant Office Productivity" that reviews ten no-cost applications that work great. This is the article link http://dealdogs.net/?p=14362 here which provides descriptions, links and videos about each application, from a word processing office suite to free faxing.

I recently set up a new office. I am amazed how much more productive the staff has become. I decided to purchase new office furniture including new desks, conference tables, and files. With this modular configuration I purchased I can reconfigure the office every few months. This periodic change seems to help improve the office productivity and creativity.

Thanks for the great list! It’s makes a good reminder as I find it hard to focus at times… One tool I haven’t thought about using is the whiteboard! I think it’s a great idea! I always find it faster to write things down… I have a notebook for that purpose, but it’s easy to close it and forget about it… But thw whiteboard is in the office space right in front of you! It also allows you to take your eyes if the conputer screen!

I can totally relate. When I work from home I lose focus as well. We always find a way pull through it.
