Monday Copywriting Tip #11: Say Thank You

Whenever a visitor to your site ‘does something’, whether it’s to sign up for a newsletter, registering on the site or buying something – say thank you.

And that doesn’t mean simply using those two words. It means showing your genuine appreciation for the step they just took. You are appreciative, right? And yes, it takes a certain leap of faith for anyone to give you their email address. They have made a commitment, however small it may be.

When the thank-you message you write recognizes that small leap, and is appreciative of the trust they have put in you, it goes a long way towards reassuring them that they have made a good choice. And with that reassurance comes a deepening sense of confidence and the beginnings of loyalty.
