In my post on October 6 I used the term 'White Collar Spam'. Just a neat turn of phrase to throw some light on how legitimate companies sometimes stretch the permission they receive when people sign up for their newsletters.
But a neat turn of phrase has enormous potential to travel fast. Words have a natural velocity when a phrase, headline or tagline catches in your mind. People start talking.
A mention in Seth Godin's weblog didn't do any harm. And the next thing I know, I get a call from Saul Hansell of the New York Times.
And today the phrase 'White Collar Spam' gets its first mention in the mainstream media with Saul's article on 'Big Companies Add to Spam'.
How far will it go?
